I HATE THE SMELL OF IT!

Do you have a habit of smelling things before you eat them? I do! But for some strange reason I don't have a problem with using other products that smell bad! Today I tired a new moisturizer on my face and it STANK!!!!! but after about 10 minutes I started to enjoy the new breeze that crossed the surface of my ebony hued skin. I guess this goes to show that it doesn't really matter how a thing smells as long as it's good and works for you. This doesn't just go for a simple moisturizer! Oh no, it applies to everything in LIFE!

Have you ever been in a situation where you didn't understand what was going on? A relationship or situation where you didn't like how the out come was looking? They say that in hindsight and retrospect that all things become clear. I have found that in many occasions things will become clear in the midst thereof. I know this blog is random, but random is good sometimes!

In closing, make sure that you are more in tune with the purpose behind everything rather then the smell or how it looks! you never know the greatness you could be missing out on. whether it be with something as complicated as people or as simple as skin care!

p.s. Shout out to my boy Timothy Fair! he cursed me out on yahoo messenger tonight because I have not been in contact with him! when I asked him for his number again I was in awe! I had all the right digits except for one! hahaha no wonder he never responded to my texts! lololol

Yesterday's Revelation!

My friend, Jessie Adore called me out of the blue! I was lounging in the sitting channel surfing between Making His Band and my new favorite reality show The Rachel Zoe Project (why am just starting to pay attention to this show? idk! but i love it)!!!! ANYWAY! Jessie, the most beautiful girl in the world called me last night! what a shocker! although I have known her for years we have never once talked on the phone! let alone for an hour an a half! What started off as a simple courtesy called ended up to be one big inspirational session! Both of us bouncing spiritual revelation and faith off of each other! It was simply AMAZING! I Love her! Jessie just relocated to NYC, where she was born and raised. She now lives in an amazing brownstone apartment in the heart of Harlem! I'm extremely excited for her and whats to come. GO JESSIE GO......

you can check out her work @ JessieAdore.com/blog

This girl is on a move! WATCH OUT WORLD!

NOW! Let's talk about Brad & Taylor's relationship on The Rachel Zoe Project! These two remind me of my Columbus, OH bff (Megan) and myself! Both extremely sarcastic, loving, and stylish! Above their relationship I really admire Brad's sense of style! DOPE!!!!! He has officially been added to my inspirational style list! He's classic! Check Him Out!

p.s. always be cognizant of the people in your world! they are there for a reason. it's not a matter of how often you speak with them. what matters the most is that when you do talk it's as if you you'll are long lost twins! Its all about relationship!

Back!

I been gone for a minute now I'm back with.........So, much to say!

It's been exactly 8 days since I have blogged! RIDICULOUS! I guess this blog has become apart of that whole social network get away! :(

NEVERTHELESS I'M BACK! and my motivation to blog stems from the movie Julie & Julia. The true story of Julie Powell and Julia Child's! If you have not seen this movie you need to make it your business to see it! IT'S GREAT! Inspiration and Real! It's a must see! In the movie you come face to face with two very interesting lives and their journeys to pursue "cooking"! I know it doesn't seem interesting, but it really is! So go see it!

In the movie Julie is a typical NY girl who longs to become and author. Due to life's circumstances she has not been about to fulfill that dream...until NOW! :) outside of her boring government job and marriage she decides to start a blog based off of what she loves to do; cooking! She completes 546 receipts from Julia Child's cook book in 365 days! everyday she blogs about it! hey she's passionate, so why not!? she goes from no comments for over 56 comments in a day! her blog gains the eye of the NY times as well as several publisher and Julia Child's herself! COOL HUH! YEA! that's all.....go see it!

OK, so I have been doing a lot of thinking, meditating and re tracking my life up until now. I must say...I am in my finest moment! Even in the midst of me not have consistency in my life. I feel like I am in a good place mentally. spiritually there is always room for improvement. I will say this though: I'M AT PEACE! Last week I attend the 80Th convocation for my church and I was renewed as well as confirmed! I'M IN THE RIGHT PLACE! and that feel GOOD! :)

enough for now....MORE MORE MORE MORE to come this week!

Meet Nicole: David's BFF!

LAST NIGHT WAS AMAZING! I attend a farewell gathering for my dear friend Mr. David "D.T." Thompson! He is moving to Los Angeles, CA on the 25th to continue his pursuit as a hair stylist. The pictures you see here are a product of his work! The Washington, D.C. /Metropolitan area will be vacant without David's sense of style, but most of all his warming smile, gentile heart and priceless sense humor will me missed! WE WILL MISS YOU DAVID! :) *tear* but as we all know...This move is your magic 8! (new beginning) lol!

OK so they had a cake for David, but no candles! lol how about this for a sign? our friend Holly runs to her car and she brings back a number 8 shaped candle! NOW! with my 3rd eye I saw more then the candle I saw a confirmation! So i walk over to David and say "do you know what you just blew out! lol" In my studies I have found that the number 8 means new beginnings! Needless to say I am extremely excited for David and the new road ahead of him! GO DAVID! LOVE YA!!!!!

NOW MEET NICOLE......

She won the "silent killer" award last night! As soon as she walked in the door my eyes were glued to her! From head to toe she killed! She has her "gun" loaded and was armed and DANGEROUS! :) After a little small talk and slice of vanilla cake I found that she was not just another pretty face! She was quite the stylist-cool kid as well! GO NICOLE! She even turned me on to some new blog sites and underground stations in NYC! Needless to say my next NYC trip will be very successful because of one night with Nicole!

In closing, last night was a BLAST for me! For everyone else it was probably a normal Thursday night chill session, but for me it was a new experience! I consider myself to be very sociable, but I don't go out much. I rarely "paint the town" as they say. I'm more into interior decorating (staying in the house! lol) I guess after last night I will consider doing exterior painting! :)

p.s. I also caught up with my BFF of 7 years! I was extremely excited to she her in the place! Love you Holly! :)
One more pic of Nicole! lol (yes I was press for her!) peep her shoe game! :)

I didn't foresee this, but I'm prepared!

so.....its been about 3 weeks since I've relocated back home (Washington, D.C.) and submitted my application for graduate school! While I was excited about these endeavours two weeks ago...I've recently found myself becoming inpatient!

As I sit here finishing my maple & brown sugar oatmeal and homemade coffee my mind races...........Why hasn't my job transferred to the city yet? Why is it taking so long for my previous institution to send my transcript! I have done my part! calling every week, following up, etc..... I mean there is but so much house work that can be done around here! and being in the house every week is getting old....this is me being inpatient!

On the flip side I have had the chance to do a lot of thinking, separating, and reading! These three have become a routine for me since i have abandoned all social networks....I cant say that I hate it either!

But, like always I got a glimpse of hope during my morning devotion time! check this out:

"When we are afraid, the least we can do is pray to God. But our Lord has a right to expect that those who name His name have an underlying confidence in Him. God expects His children to be so confident in Him that in any crisis they are the ones who are reliable. Yet our trust is only in God up to a certain point, then we turn back to the elementary panic-stricken prayers of those people who do not even know God. We come to our wits’ end, showing that we don’t have even the slightest amount of confidence in Him or in His sovereign control of the world. To us He seems to be asleep, and we can see nothing but giant, breaking waves on the sea ahead of us."

(from "my utmost for his highest" devotional www.rbc.org)

RIGHT ON TIME FOR ME!!!!

SO back to the excitement i possessed 2 weeks ago! even in the midst of me not "working" right now, getting a $50 ticket yesterday, car in and out the shop, charger to my mac book breaking, feeling alone, and whatever else has transpired lately! I STILL BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING GREAT IS COMING FOR ME! :)

P.s. I going to make my way to the thrift store today! last week I saw a Vintage Christian Dior bath robe for a whooping $7! DOPE! i pray its still there!

time to get personal

is it just me or has facebook, twitter and other social networks become VERY invasive!? I mean we no longer have to pic up the phone or meet up for coffee in order to catch up with friends, family and associates! All we have to do is log into our facebook accounts and with in 2 clicks and 3 seconds we find out their relationship status, thought pattern (via their status updates) and even know where they've been,. who they've been with, how they were doing it and why they were doing it!!

In times pass I have been guilty of participating in this adolescent behavior! Growing up I was always a very personal person and today I choose to return to my roots! By no means am I down playing these social networks because I believe they are vital at times. But was with anything; soical networks are good in doeses!

for now email, text, phone calls and blogging are as social as I will be!

Arie sung it, Bentley wrote it and I wore it!

When India Arie first came out with the hit song "I am not my hair!" she made a statement! the hook went s
omething like this:

"I am not my hair, I am not this skin, I am not your expectations no. I am not my Hair, I am not this skin, I am the soul that lives within....."

But what about your gear, wardrobe, attire? she forgot about that!
WELP! that's why I'm writing....there was a time when I was ridiculed for being so outlandish with my dress! and because I was not yet mature enough to handle such hatred I backed down f
rom being me...

Today, I stand to reclaim who I am with STYLE! whether I'm at work, church, park, mall or school I choose! Mr. Bentley says this:

manners + confidence + style =swagger...I could not agree more!

Your manners should never be compromised in any setting!

Your confidence should be build daily through your spiritual walk!

Your style should just speak for itself!

The next time you step into your closet to get dressed do something different! Pull out that "ugly" tie and match it with the yellow shirt everyone hates! Bring out that grotesque pleated skirt and purple heels! Who knows you just might like it!

"Never allow another mans perception to determine what looks good to you!"

I found my purpose!

....the last three days have been an eye opener for me! I hung out with a few friends, enjoyed great worship on Sunday and even reunited a college buddy randomly at the gas station! lol In everyone of these settings I found a new Me! The once shy, timid and non-confrontational me has slowly progressed into a well spoken, courageous and well reasoned young man! and that I am proud of! how did that happen? I'm not to sure! can I take credit for that? I dont think so!

Over the course of time I have found my true purpose! Myles Munroe says this about purpose:

"Purpose gives birth to hope and instills the passion to act...purpose is the master of motivation and the mother of commitment!"

I have noticed that the older I got the more bolder I come! Bold enough to reach for what I really want, be who I really am and live out my real purpose.......

word of the week and for my life: PURPOSE!

what's yours?
