When India Arie first came out with the hit song "I am not my hair!" she made a statement! the hook went something like this:
"I am not my hair, I am not this skin, I am not your expectations no. I am not my Hair, I am not this skin, I am the soul that lives within....."
But what about your gear, wardrobe, attire? she forgot about that!
WELP! that's why I'm writing....there was a time when I was ridiculed for being so outlandish with my dress! and because I was not yet mature enough to handle such hatred I backed down f
rom being me...
Today, I stand to reclaim who I am with STYLE! whether I'm at work, church, park, mall or school I choose! Mr. Bentley says this:
manners + confidence + style =swagger...I could not agree more!
Your manners should never be compromised in any setting!
Your confidence should be build daily through your spiritual walk!
Your style should just speak for itself!
The next time you step into your closet to get dressed do something different! Pull out that "ugly" tie and match it with the yellow shirt everyone hates! Bring out that grotesque pleated skirt and purple heels! Who knows you just might like it!
